Mission
The mission of the Byrd Library Media Center is to meet the academic needs, requirements, and desires of the school population and to ensure that students are effective and independent users of ideas and information.
It is our vision to provide a library media center that provides a well-rounded collection of popular, educational, and multicultural materials, and technology that enhances learning, entertainment, a love for reading, and is the heart of the school community.
The Program
The library media program is designed to include instruction, services, and a variety of resources and materials where students can develop the literacy skills needed to achieve success in meeting elements of the California Content Standards as well as Information Literacy Skills.
Library classes and instruction are available to introduce and teach research and study skills. Teachers are encouraged to collaborate on developing research and study skills assignments that would involve use of the library’s print and electronic resources for instruction and assignments.
